My interest in genealogy was piqued while I was a teenager. My mom was a volunteer at the local Family History Center and during the summer she’d take me with her. My father’s dad was a huge family history enthusiast and I’d sit and go through his papers. Filling out family group sheets was far too satisfying.
It was always a hobby for me, but about 10 years ago I began to be more serious about the research. A friend asked me to help her with a brick wall and it occurred to me that this might be the career I’d been in search of for quite some time. With that, Turning Hearts Genealogy was born.
I love dead people. They fascinate me. I love learning their stories about who they were and where they came from.
For me, every time I find an ancestor it’s like finding a little piece of my own puzzle. I was adopted when I was a baby but about 8 years ago I found my biological mother. I’ve been so blessed to be able to learn about both my biological and adoptive ancestors. It’s helped me understand that I’m a part of something so much bigger and more beautiful than just myself.
Because of this I’m passionate about helping people find that same connection for themselves.
